Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) Laboratory at the University of Akron is currently conducting research on MEMS and NEMS Sensors and Actuators, Novel Microfabrication and Nanofabrication, BioMEMS/BioNEMS, Polymer Based Smart Materials and Structures, Micro/Nano Device Testing and Characterization, Multiphysics phenomena in microchannels and nanochannels, and Optical MEMS. MEMS Lab is well funded by National Science Foundation, NASA as well as other federal/state funding agencies and companies. Graduate assistantships and PostDoc/Visiting Scholar positions are available regularly.
Graduate Assistant Positions
Applications are invited for Graduate Assistant positions in Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) Laboratory at the University of Akron. Successful GA candidates should have or will receive by the time of taking up the position a BS/MS degree (MS preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field and should be eligible to enroll in the Ph.D. program in the Mechanical Engineering Department at The University of Akron. Compensations include full tuition coverage and stipend.

PostDoc Researcher/Visiting Scholar Positions
Applications are invited for PostDoc Researcher/Visiting Scholar positions in Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) Laboratory at the University of Akron, (http://coel.ecgf.uakron.edu/~zhe/ ). Successful candidates should have or will receive by the time of taking up the position a Ph.D. degree in Engineering or Science and should have solid experiences in development of Bio-instruments, precision instruments or electrochemical analytical instruments. Trainings in instrumentation electronics, small signal measurement and signal processing are preferred.

Undergraduate Researcher
Undergraduate students at UA are invited to arrange a meeting with Professor Jiang Zhe to discuss possibilities for research openings. Typically, undergraduates are in their junior or senior year of study, and spend 10-12 hours per week during the academic year in the laboratory. Many research topics are usually available, ranging from theoretical analysis to experiments. Candidates should be able to both work independently and collaborate with other students.
